Predictive Apple Concepts
9to5mac & Personal
The Goal
Imagine Apple products that could realistically exist based on historical trends, market interest, and my expert knowledge of Apple platforms and the company ethos.
macOS Monterey
Accurately predicted the name of the next version of macOS and imagined several new features that did eventually make their way to the Mac including Shortcuts, TestFlight, code autofill, and more.
Apple Sports
Imagined an Apple Sports app well before Apple eventually shipped the official product. Concept featured a similar color scheme, the same icon they ultimately used, and much more.
Apple Kitchen
Apple Kitchen was a concept for an additional service that featured recipes and more from major creators and trusted sources. This became reality when Apple brought recipes to Apple News+.
visionOS 2.0
Highly realistic visionOS 2 concept featured folders for apps which ended up looking nearly the same when they shipped, customizable home views, iPad apps on the main view, and more.
SpringKit
SpringKit was a hypothetical framework for bringing widgets to the iOS home screen. This ultimately became real with iOS 14 when redesigned widgets arrived in different sizes with similar functionality.
Calls app
The combined experience of Phone, FaceTime, and Contacts becoming one cohesive app included designs that did ship later, some of which are in the new Phone app in iOS 26.
CarPlay
Revamped CarPlay experience that was better integrated with your vehicle, displaying the in-car temperature, speed, and more. Maintained the general feel of CarPlay but included designs that are similar to what has recently shipped.
Apple Podcasts
Refreshed Podcasts app experience included things like a better UI for recent episodes, enhanced chapter switching, and the ability to view the transcript of the show. Many of these have recently made their way to the real app.
Floating Tab Bars
Concept envisioned how Apple could bring floating tab bars similar to the then expected redesign for Safari in iOS 15. Similar designs are going to ship this fall in iOS 26 as floating tab bars become standard for the system.
